PEDIGREE: Fortunus is
sired by the world renowned Hanoverian sire 'Foxhunter'. His half brother
'Fiona' is jumping internationally for Switzerland ridden by Steve Guerdat. Fortunus'
grandsire 'Watzmann' is the sire of numerous international jumpers including
'Wembley' ridden by Carsten Otto Nagle for Germany and 'Walzerkonig' ridden by Franke
Sloothak. His sire's pedigree also includes 'Retina' the dam of Quickstar'.
Fortunus' dam 'Merabell' is by the Holsteiner stallion 'Metellus' which is from
the same family as 'Calvaro' ridden by Willi Melliger for Switzerland.
PERFORMANCE: Fortunus
finished 2nd as a 3yr old in the prestigious Stallion Performance test in
Warendorf. He achieved maximum points for jumping ability, paces and
temperament. From August 97 until July 99, he competed in Germany and out of 43 classes he was always
placed in the top 10, (including 1st place 10 times and 2nd place 10 times). As
a 7yr old he jumped 36 clear rounds in succession (including jump off s). In Lisbon, Madrid &. Barcelona. He jumped 16 consecutive classes at
1.40/1.45m with only 1 fence down in total. As an 8yr old he jumped his first
1.50m course in CSIO Gijon and he was placed 5th and 8th. He finished 5th in
the Grand Prix at Cavan in November 2001 at the end of the season.
He competed in
numerous Nations Cup and Grand Prix being first in CSI - Cavan, 2nd CSI - St.
LO, 3rd CSI - Sopot, 5th CSI - Ascona, 6th CSI - Caen and numerous other international
placings. Based on his international successes, his confirmation and temperament
he was approved in France by the prestigious Haras Nationaux. On 30th
Nov 2003
Heritage Fortunus was ranked 8th in the BN World Stallion Rankings extracted
from the FEI-Gandini Breeding Rankings. The first eight places included
stallions such as Baloubet de Rouet, Carnute, Arko III, Adlantus, Dobels Cento
and Zandor Z.
He is currently
long-listed for the World Equestrian Games 2002 and the Olympic Games 2004.
PROGENY: The first crop
of three year olds sired by Heritage Fortunus are demonstrating excellent
movement, jump and temperament. The quality of the sire are fully represented
in his young stock.
