ABOUT Strinesdale Matador
	The 148 cm Pony Stallion Strinesdale Matador, is a sought-after Pony Sire, with many champion sons and daughters from Royal Show Champions to a Pony of the Year in Australia. Matador is not only registered with the National Pony Society but also with both the American Sports Pony Society and the British Sports Pony Studbook Society. Also, all of Matador's sons and daughters are eligible for Part-Bred Arab registration. Matador is fast becoming a living legend, as one of the most prolific stock getters in the world today. Foaled in 1990 Matador was purchased as a foal by Liz Mansfield of the Rotherwood Stud (who still owns him). A son of her own stallion "Troubadour" Liz was impressed by his presence and authority when just a foal. As a yearling he qualified for the In-Hand Final at Wembley, winning the pony section. He was Ponies UK Champion at three years old by which time he had commenced his illustrious stud career. The list of his successful stock is lengthy, many of them are recorded on his stud card, but include: Rotherwood Picador, Trellech Countryman, Rotherwood Victor, Spinningdale Araminta, Rotherwood Take a Peep, Stychlands Noble Heir, Stylways Amadeus, Pickmere Galactica, Pickmere Dancing Queen, Seren Thalia, TamarindFancy Lady, Oldcourt Piccola and so many many more!Plus in Australia Ascot Lisa Marie, All Talk of Astral and Rotherwood Matinee (imp.) His frozen semen (collected and frozen annually at West Kington Stud) has been exported to Australia, New Zealand and South Africa and he has had a Pony of the Year in Australia. Matador's fine paces and temperament have been recognised as well in the Sports Pony world with his inclusion on the American Sports Pony Society register and the British Sports Pony Studbook Society register both extremely influential in the new and exciting world of Sports Ponies. Matador had four individual Ridden winners at the 2003 Royal Show. The stud's Matador filly Seren Thalia was Champion Part Bred Arab at the Royal Lancashire Show and a month later was judged Northern Counties Part Bred Arab Yearling of the Year. Pickmere Seistan a four year old full brother to Mistral now owned by 'The Dobson family' and ridden by Sarah Dobson has won several Dressage classes and also qualified for the Ponies UK and BHS Championships. Matador’s sire Twylands Troubadour was a prolific sire of successful ridden & in-hand show ponies, & is proving to be a valuable asset in producing ponies with quality, great presence, courage, & true pony character. He perpetuates famous blood lines back to Bwlch Valentino, the founder of the modern British riding pony. The dam’s side of Matador’s pedigree traces back to the great names of Count Dorsaz, Ermine Toes & Mikeno. In 1991 Matador was shown as a yearling where he was 1st & champion Shropshire & West Midland,1st & champion Spillars Cumbria, 1st & champion Royal Highland, Reserve champion Ponies UK. In 1993 his only time shown he was 1st & champion Youngstock ponies UK. 1993 also saw his first crop of foals being shown where they achieved tremendous results too numerous to list here.
